Are IP cameras WiFi?

Some are wireless, and some require physical lines. It works just like modern gaming hardware. Some controllers sync wirelessly through the air, while competitive gamers prefer a hardwired cable for absolute reliability.

Most compact consumer cameras built for indoor apartments or baby monitoring run on home Wi-Fi because it's incredibly convenient. However, professional, commercial-grade outdoor setups almost always use physical Ethernet cables. Using a technology called PoE (Power over Ethernet), a single network cable delivers both the high-speed video data stream and the electrical power to the camera at the same time. This keeps the camera immune to Wi-Fi drops, heavy rain interference, or dead batteries.

See how adding audio features changes these data streams by reading about whether IP cameras can record audio.
