TP-Link AX1500 vs Tenda AX1500: Which budget Wi-Fi 6 router is better?

Get the TP-Link AX1500 (Archer AX12 or AX10) if you want a reliable ecosystem to build on, with OneMesh and EasyMesh compatibility, strong after-sales support in India, and consistent firmware updates. Get the Tenda AX1500 (RX2 Pro or TX2 Pro) if your only priority is the lowest possible price and you do not plan to expand with extenders or mesh nodes later. Both routers are the same speed class with nearly identical Wi-Fi 6 radios, so the decision is not about speed but about what surrounds the router: ecosystem, support, and long-term reliability.

Where do the specs match?

Both deliver AX1500 speeds: 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Both support OFDMA, MU-MIMO, WPA3, and beamforming. Both have Gigabit WAN and LAN ports. Neither has a USB port. On paper, these are the same routers from two different brands.

Ecosystem is the real decision

TP-Link's OneMesh lets you pair the router with any OneMesh-compatible extender (like the RE505X) to create a seamless single-network setup. EasyMesh goes further: it is an industry standard that works across brands. If you buy a TP-Link router today and want to add a mesh node two years later, you have options from TP-Link and potentially other EasyMesh-compatible brands.

Tenda's WiFi+ is proprietary. It only works with other Tenda WiFi+ products. If you start with Tenda and want to expand, you are locked into Tenda's range. The extender and mesh options are more limited in India compared to TP-Link's lineup.

Reliability and support in India

TP-Link has a well-established service network in India with consistent firmware updates. The Archer AX12 and AX10 receive regular updates via the Tether app.

Tenda's reviews for the RX2 Pro are mixed. Multiple buyers reported a sleep mode issue: when no devices are actively transferring data, the router goes into standby, and Wi-Fi security cameras lose connection. One reviewer specifically noted that there is no setting to disable this behaviour. Another reported the band steering (2.4/5 GHz auto-switching) not working correctly. These are firmware-level issues, and Tenda's update cadence for the Indian market is less predictable.

We could not verify whether these issues have been fixed in subsequent firmware updates. If you run CCTV cameras on your network, this is worth investigating before buying.

Which one is for you?

Buying fresh: The TP-Link AX12 at Rs 2,849 is the safer buy. For Rs 350 more than the Tenda, you get OneMesh + EasyMesh, better after-sales, and a more reliable firmware track record. If you need 4 LAN ports and a stronger CPU, the AX10 at Rs 6,400 is the step up.

On the tightest possible budget: The Tenda RX2 Pro at Rs 2,500 is the cheapest Wi-Fi 6 router you can buy in India. If you have a simple network (no cameras, no mesh plans, under 10 devices), it will work. Just go in knowing the ecosystem and support differences.
