For most Indian parking lots, use a CP Plus ANPR bullet camera at every entry and exit boom gate, and CP Plus 4MP dome or bullet cameras spaced across the open lot for general coverage. 

Add a PTZ camera if the lot is large enough that fixed cameras would leave gaps.

Placement matters more than camera count here. 

Mount entry and exit cameras at a slight downward angle, roughly 7 to 8 feet high, aimed directly at the number plate path, not the driver's face. This is the single biggest mistake in parking lot setups: cameras aimed too high or at the wrong angle capture the car roof instead of the plate, making footage useless for tracking vehicles in and out.

For general parking lot coverage, space dome or bullet cameras so their fields of view overlap slightly, covering aisles, pedestrian walkways, and any blind corners created by pillars or ramps in covered parking.

Night coverage needs IR range, not just a night vision label. Open lots need 30-50m IR range cameras since there's no ambient lighting help from surrounding walls the way there is in a covered structure.

For a multi-level or basement parking structure, add cameras at every ramp turn and near fire exits, since these are common blind spots and also frequent locations for incidents.

Storage-wise, a parking lot generates constant motion (cars driving through, doors opening), so budget more storage than a similarly sized indoor space, closer to 20-25 days minimum if you need to trace vehicle movement after a delayed complaint.
