For gaming, the CPU matters as much as the radio. QoS runs through TP-Link's HomeShield app - you manually flag your gaming device or console for priority, and the router keeps its traffic ahead of background downloads or streaming elsewhere in the house. It's not automatic like a dedicated gaming port, but it works reliably once configured.

Where the AX73 falls short: no dedicated gaming LAN port, no game-mode toggle, and only Gigabit Ethernet ports - fine for current Indian fiber plans (Jio Fiber, Airtel Xstream, ACT max out around 1 Gbps for most residential tiers), but a ceiling if you upgrade later.

Wi-Fi 7 future-proofing: TP-Link Archer BE550

For gaming, MLO's real benefit isn't average ping - it's reducing tail latency, the occasional ping spike that causes a missed shot or a rubber-banded movement in a fast-paced match. That only matters if your gaming device (phone, laptop, or handheld) actually supports Wi-Fi 7. Older devices connect fine but don't see any of the new standard's benefits.

Four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports and a 2.5 Gbps WAN port make this router ready for broadband plans above 1 Gbps, which several Indian ISPs have started rolling out in select circles. The one thing that matters more than any router

Gaming uses very little bandwidth - a Valorant match runs around 450-550 Kbps sustained, BGMI mobile around 45-50 MB per hour.

QoS is the one router setting that reduces jitter without upgrading anything: it tells the router to send your game's small packets ahead of a housemate's Netflix stream or a background game update, instead of processing everything first-come-first-served.
