Is Jio Fiber a Wifi router?

No, Jio Fiber is not a wifi router; it is a broadband service. When you subscribe to Jio Fiber, Jio installs an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) at your home along with a basic wifi router bundled with the connection.

The ONT converts the fiber optic signal into a format your devices can use, and the bundled router then broadcasts wifi from that connection. The router itself is separate hardware, and you are allowed to replace it with your own.

Many Jio Fiber users find the bundled router adequate for basic browsing and streaming, but it falls short on range in larger homes or homes with concrete walls. Swapping in a router with more antennas and Wi-Fi 6 support noticeably improves coverage and speed, especially in 2 BHK and larger apartments.

To use your own router with Jio Fiber, you typically set the ONT to bridge mode and connect your router to handle the PPPoE login. This keeps Jio's authentication working while letting your router manage the wifi network.
