Can IP cameras record audio?
Yes, a vast majority of modern IP cameras come equipped with internal microphones to record synchronized audio right alongside the video track. This adds a critical layer of context to security footage, allowing you to hear verbal altercations, breaking glass, or distant alarms that might occur completely off-camera.
Many consumer-facing smart cameras also include built-in speakers for two-way audio. This allows you to open a mobile app while you're away from home and speak directly through the camera, whether you're instructing a delivery driver where to leave a package or telling your dog to get off the kitchen counter.
Note: Before activating audio recording in a commercial setting, always check local surveillance laws, as recording private conversations often requires strict legal disclosure.
