STQC certification is not universally mandatory in India but is required for government projects and public sector procurements in India.
Private buyers and businesses can still purchase BIS ER -01 approved models, though STQC certified models are preferred for security and compliance.
In practice, STQC certified CCTV camera models are becoming increasingly important due to tightening cybersecurity and regulatory norms.

One certificate can cover multiple distinct model numbers. This is not the same as one camera with cosmetic variations. When STQC certifies a group of models under a single certificate, each model number listed in the annexure has been individually evaluated — they have different hardware configurations, different sensors, different firmware hashes, and are sold as separate SKUs. A 2MP model and a 4MP model sharing a certificate are not the same camera with a different lens; they have different image sensors, different chipsets in some cases, and different firmware builds. We count each named model number as one certified model, which is exactly how STQC counts them in the certificate annexure.

There is no such thing as an STQC-approved CCTV brand. Certification applies only to specific models, not entire brands. Currently, STQC Certified CCTV camera models are available from Prama (58), CP Plus (45), Sparsh (43), Matrix (36), Honeywell (9), Vicon (3), and Equus (2).

No Hikvision-branded camera appears on the STQC IoTSCS portal as of April 2026. Hikvision operates in India through a joint venture called Prama Hikvision India Private Limited, and the JV's certified cameras are sold under the Prama brand, not the Hikvision brand. If your dealer claims "Hikvision is certified in India," what's actually true is that Hikvision's Indian JV partner Prama has 58 certified models. Hikvision-branded products do not appear on the portal. Always verify the brand name on the actual product and the certificate number on the STQC portal.

Qubo claims STQC certification on its product listings, and Qubo's founder has publicly stated MeitY clearance. We could not find a Qubo certificate on the STQC IoTSCS portal as of April 2026. The likeliest explanation is that Qubo holds a BIS ER-01 licence (which is enough to sell legally in India) and is using "STQC" loosely. If you need a verified STQC certificate, ask Qubo for it directly.

HiFocus claims certification on its own website. We could not find a HiFocus certificate on the STQC IoTSCS portal. We'll update this answer if and when the certificate becomes searchable on the government portal.

Not as of April 2026. One industry source lists Godrej as being in the STQC pipeline. There's no public certificate yet.

You can buy a camera that has BIS ER-01 certification even if it doesn't have STQC. BIS ER-01 is the legal minimum for sale in India. STQC is required only for government tenders, and is increasingly preferred by enterprise buyers. A camera with neither a certificate cannot legally be sold in India from April 1, 2026 onwards.
